Tenuta Ca'Bolani S.S.
Tenuta Ca’Bolani
Outstanding winery in Northern Italy, the ideal conditions of which produce a wide variety of grapes.
Tenuta Ca’Bolani winery lies between the Alps and Adriatic Sea at the heart of the Aquileia DOC appellation, where wines have been produced for more than 3,000 years.
This is the first estate purchased by the Zonin family outside Veneto. They acquired the estate in 1970 and have restored it to its original splendour, making it into one of the most precious gems in Friuli’s wine region. The region is famous for its excellent white wines. In addition, only white sparkling wines produced in this area may be called Prosecco.
The roots of the winery date back to the 16th century. The noble Bolani family originally owned the Tenuta Ca’Bolani winery, also including the Molin di Ponte and Ca’Vescovo estates. Today, Tenuta Ca’Bolani has the greatest area of vineyards in Northern Italy – around 550 hectares are under vine. Their vineyards are lined with 999 cypress trees.
The characteristics of Ca’Bolani wines are a result of the unique microclimate of the region, the medium-textured clay soils which ensure fertile soils all year round thanks to the high mineral content and the superficial aquifer providing moisture.
This type of soil produces wines with attractive mineral notes. The elegant aromas of the wines are a result of the variation between day- and night-time temperatures – hot, sunny days and cool nights accompanied by temperate sea breezes from the nearby Adriatic Sea.
The estate primarily produces white wines, Prosecco, and a small quantity of red wines.
‘Alpha’ climate
The local soils and climate are considered top quality – similar to those of Tuscany, Bordeaux, and Napa Valley, making it the perfect place to grow vines.
999 cypress trees
The 999 cypress trees framing the estate are a symbol of the Ca’Bolani winery.
