„Lagavulin 8 years old” single malt was born as a special release to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Lagavulin distillery by John Johnston in 1816. This whisky creation was inspired by the visit of Alfred Barnard to the distillery in the 1880s when he tried an 'exceptionally fine' 8 years old whisky from Lagavulin distillery. With a light body that becomes oily, the „Lagavulin 8 years old” palate boasts a full-on taste that is even bigger than expected and is common to “Lagavulin” whisky. The palate is distinctively “Lagavulin”, with complex smoke notes fading into cedar and ocean spray. This whisky has an aroma of old wood, tea and mint, along with notes of citrus fruits and black currant. „Lagavulin 8 years old” single malt whisky is aged for eight years in refill American oak casks.
