Seedlip
Seedlip, a producer of distilled non-alcoholic spirits, has successfully fulfilled its mission of changing the way the world drinks since 2015.
Over 300 years ago, it was common to distill herbal remedies using copper stills. Harnessing the power of nature and alchemy, physicians solved all kinds of medical maladies in this way. In 1651, one such physician, John French, published a book called The Art of Distillation, which contained recipes for these non-alcoholic herbal remedies.
Centuries later, Ben Branson, an entrepreneur and marketing specialist, stumbled upon John French’s recipes in 2013. He was inspired and, using a small copper still, started to experiment with distilling herbs grown in his garden at home. He comes from a family of farmers – his ancestors established their farm in Lincolnshire 300 years ago.
When Ben was out one night, he was served an unpleasant, sickly sweet mocktail, which gave him the idea to start making his own non-alcoholic cocktails. He combined his farming heritage, love of nature, his copper still and forgotten recipes with the need for proper non-alcoholic cocktail options. The name of the brand was inspired by the seed baskets called ‘seedlips’ carried by his family centuries before. The name was also a pun: from seed to lip.
After two years of experimentation to develop a bespoke distillation process for each ingredient, Seedlip launched its first products in 2015. The very first batch of 1,000 bottles sold out in just three weeks, the next in three days, and the third in less than half an hour. Iconic bars, hotels and restaurants were interested in Seedlip’s products.
This marks a new era in which the demand for non-alcoholic beverages is increasing. Today, Seedlip can be found in many of the world’s best cocktail bars, luxury hotels and high quality retailers.
Flavourful option
The first globally approved distilled non-alcoholic spirit that is flavourful and ideal for cocktails. Even Gordon Ramsay loves it!
Own farm produce
They try to use as much produce from Ben Branson’s family farm as possible. For example, the peas used in Seedlip Garden 108 are grown and hand-picked in their farm.
Suitable for many diets
Seedlip is vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, kosher and suitable for diabetics as it contains no added sugars.
The new G&T
Cocktails made with Seedlip’s products resemble those made with gin, so much so that Seedlip has mistakenly even been called a gin. However, Seedlip is not a non-alcoholic gin, as it does not contain any juniper.
